Sindhu Sambat
Sahsi Sindhu Sambat (Calender), a version of Saka Sambat belonging to Sindh when Rai Saheris II Emperor of Kingdom of Sindh became victorious by defeating Shah of Nemroz in Makran, the frontier territory of Kingdom of Sindh in the year 626 AD of Julian Calendar (Saka Sambat-II 548/Sindhu Saka Sambat-I 684). He was suddenly martyred in the same battle field by hit of an unknown arrow of defeated force of Shah of Nemroz. After his demise, his son and crown prince Rai Sahsi, Rasil of Makran became the Emperor of Sindh. Sindhu Sambat started with date of his crown ceremony.
This Calendar was also followed by whole of present territory of Pakistan along with adjacent Indian territories up-to period of Al-Beruni (11th century AD) as has been mentioned in his famous book “Al-Hind”.
Dr. Nabi Bux Khan Balouch, a renowned Sindhi scholar, presented his research work on Sindhu Sambat in a conference held in March 1975, which is also available in published format in a book "Sindh Through Centuries", with the details of all it's features.
Sindhu Civilization Day celebrations started with my efforts since Chet 1394 / March 2020 randomly on Sindhu Sambat basis. Then I worked extensively and thoroughly on this Sambat and became successful to prepare and present the website of this calender largely based on Dr. Nabi Bux Khan Baloch's research work with few modification, which was launched in March 2021, in accordance to Gregorian Calendar to Sahsi Sindhu Sambat from 1582 AD to 2029 AD. And sahsi Sindhu Sambat to Geragorian Calender from 955 Sindhu to 1402 Sindh. Also to mention. Also to mention, this yearly calender was 1st time published and launched on the eve of 2nd Sindhu (Indus) Civilization Day celebrations on 1st Chet 1395 Sindhu / 22nd March 2021. The inaugural ceremony of this published calender of 1395 Sindhu were held in Matiari and Tando Adam on same date.
Now up-dated version of this Calendar from its start in March 626 A.D. to 2039 A.D. is also being launched on 1st Chet 1398 Sindhu / 21 March 2024 to maintain chronological events completely in our local and historical calendar.
This is a solar calendar and this is the Symbol of Kingdom of Sindh.
The feature Luna (Moon) are also related with Sambat, but however Sindhi Muslims are using Hijra year for religious purpose and Sindhi Hindhus are using Sindhi Sambat related to Jhule Lal, a great saint of Sindh, so there is no need of Lunar feature in this sambat.
Hijra Calendar will also be available in published calendar in near future In Sha Allah.
